RUMBA

The Rumba was an early composite of Cuban dances. Many of these, including the Son, were quite quick. However, in the interwar years the dance was slowed and refined for the Cuban middle classes. The Rumba grew in popularity in the United States in the 1930s and became a sensual staple of ballrooms around the world.
